NARFE to meet

The 37th annual Farm-City Breakfast will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the East Carolina Agriculture & Education Center, 1175 Kingsboro Road. There is no charge for farmers to attend. For more information, call 823-7241.

‘A Christmas Story’

The Tar River Players present the holiday classic “A Christmas Story” at 8 p.m. in McIntyre Auditorium at Edgecombe Community College. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, seniors and groups of 10 or more.



The Nutcracker at 7 p.m., featuring local student performers at ECC Keihin Auditorium. Advance Tickets are $8 before 12/12 and $10 at the door. Gingerbread Throw Down

Get ready to deck the halls as Braswwell Memorial Library hosts a Teen Gingerbread Throw Down on Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 5-7 p.m. in the Warner Room. Gingerbread house construction begins at 5 p.m. For details, see Leslie Schultz or call 252-442-1951, ext. 257.



Christmas arts and crafts

The Braswell Center is holding a Christmas arts and craft calss on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m., for ages 8-adult. Come make an ornament for your tree. Fee is $5 for Tarboro residents; $25 for non-residents. Registration deadline is Sunday, Dec. 15. For details, call 641-4210.

Holiday concert

Braswell Memorial Library and Rocky Mount High School music department present ‘A Gift of Music,” a holiday concert featuring Rocky Mount High band and choral students in a celebration of holiday favorites. The concert is set for Thursday, Dec. 19 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Warner Meeting Room.

Coloring contest

The Braswell Center Christmas Coloring Contest will be judged today at 5 p.m. Coloring sheets are available for pick-up from the center beginning Monday, Dec. 9 and must be turned in by Monday, Dec. 23. Age groups are 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13. Prizes will be awards for each age group. For details, call 641-4210.

COMMUNITY NOTES

Tarboro Travelers Biking Club

The Tarboro Travelers Biking Club invites cyclists for bike rides every Sunday  from 3-5 p.m., starting at the Braswell Center. Come ride your bike for fun and your health around Tarboro. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner, average or an experience rider. For details, drop by the Braswell Center or call 641-4210.



Benefit Bank

The Beneft Bank is a Wed-based service that helps families and individuals apply for state and federal benefits (Medicare, Medicade, voter registration, scholarships, etc.) Volunteers from Single Women in Mission (SWI) will be on hand to assist patrons with The Benefit Bank-NC every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m., in the computer lab.



Teen Advisory Board

Braswell Memorial Library is looking for teens 13-17 to help decide what happens at the library. The group will assist in planning programs, suggesting books and creating displays.
