of the Emanicpation Proclamation


To commemorate the anniversary, Earl L. Ijames,  Curator at the North Carolina Museum of History, will speak at Edgecombe County Memorial Library at 7pm. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, is free and open to the public.

Young Women


Of Edgecombe County will be staged at 7pm in Keihin Auditorium at ECC. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased for $15 from any of the contestants or from All About Flowers and Brewers Jewelry. Pancake Breakfast

Advocates for Edgecombe County Animals are having a pancake breakfast at Highway 55 (formerly Andy’s) from 7-10am. Eat in or Take out. You can get tickets in advance. Call 908-1171 or email spcaanc@embarqmail.com. Proceeds will help pay veterinarian expenses for Edgecombe County shelter animals.

   This study is geared toward helping African-American women and communities in eastern NC to improve diabetes outcomes. Recruiting African-American women between the ages of 19-75,  from Bertie, Edgecombe and Pitt counties. Qualified participants will be reimbursed for their time and effort. A consortium of community organizations and individuals committed to preventing HIV/AIDS in Edgecombe and Nash counties.
