Ice Skating

The City of Rocky Mt. is providing a huge ice skating rink for some Holiday fun. Sessions start on the hour and last 45 minutes. Come out for your session before or after the Christmas Parade. Low-Income Engergy Assistance

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) gives families a one-time vendor payment to help pay their heating bills. Applications will be taken for disabled persons receiving a service through the Division of Aging and Adult Services or for households with a member age 60 and older. For application sites in

Christmas Coloring Contest

For ages 5-7, 8-10, 11-13. You can start picking up your sheets on Dec. 6th. Winners announced at 7pm. Prizes given for each group. For more information call 641-4210.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR),  Micajah Pettaway Chapter will meet at 2pm,  in the home of rs. Andrew Gatsis (Alice Wynne) for Dessert and Coffee. The program will be by “Danielle Barrett, Flutist.”

Landfill

Will be closing at 12:30pm and will re-open on Thursday, Dec. 27th at 8am in observance of the Christmas Holidays.

Edgecombe County Landfill

Will be closed and will re-open Wednesday, Jan. 2nd, 2013, at 8am. All Convenience Centers will be open New Year’s Day.



Edgecombe County Streetriders & the Galatica Universal Club

The Edgecombe Veterans Museum is now accepting “Toys for Tots”. All toys must be new and unwrapped. Museum open Thursday -Saturday 10am-4pm.

Literacy Council

The Family Caregivers Support Group meets once a month at 2 p.m. on second Tuesday in room 260 of the County Administration Building, 201 Saint Andrew St.



Home School

A new support group has formed in Edgecombe County called SWISH (Spreading our Wings In Successful Home Schooling). Contact Renee Howell at 823-4877 or Teresa Denton at 827-5799.



EMPOWER!

   This study is geared toward helping African-American women and communities in eastern NC to improve diabetes outcomes. Recruiting African-American women between the ages of 19-75,  from Bertie, Edgecombe and Pitt counties. Qualified participants will be reimbursed for their time and effort. Project GRACE

A consortium of community organizations and individuals committed to preventing HIV/AIDS in Edgecombe and Nash counties. We are looking for African American youth between the ages of 10 and 14 and their adult caregivers to participate in a research study to help them talk  more about risky sex behaviors and how to say no.
