The Happy Senior Citizens Club will be sponsoring gift bingo on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the E.L. Roberson Center.



Candidate Forum

The Edgecombe County Human Relation Commission will host a candidate forum 6 p.m. at Edgecombe County Auditorium. The purpose of the forum is for citizens to become informed about the candidates.



OCTOBER 5

Ebonette Club

Meets at 4:00 p.m. at the home of Viola Harris.



American Legion

Eason Tiney American Legion Post 19 will meet 5 a.m. for breakfast followed by an meetin at Abrams Barbecue in Tarboro. All veterans are encouraged to attend.



OCTOBER 6

Tarboro Fire Department

The Tarboro Fire Department invites the citizens it station on Howard Avenue from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Puppet shows games and refreshments as well as fire related demonstrations will be offered.



OCTOBER 7

Flag-raising Cermony

There wil be a Flag-raising Cermony at the Veteran’s Memorialon the Town Common. The veteran being honored is Joel Bourne, U.S. Marine.



Activity Day in Hobgood

Starting with the gigantic yard sale at 9 a.m. Booths are available for $10, other activities start at 10 a.m. All activities will be held at the Thomas Sheilds Community Center. To reserve a booth or for more info, call 907-3785. Come one, come all! Bring your lawn chair!



Masters Gardeners Fall Planting Bulbs Sale

Relay for Life Captain’s Meeting, Edgecombe County

6:30 p.m. in room 152, Edgecombe Community College. Returning teams and new teams invited! 2014 Relay Location will be at SouthWest High School.

Literacy Volunteers Registration Deadline

FOL Fundraiser

Edgecombe County Memorial Library’s Friends of the Library proudly presents, an Evening of Mystery & Imagination; a wine and cheese social to velebrate the literature of the fantasitc. This will feature a live performance of H.P. Lovecrat’s classic story; The Picture in the House. Admission is 10 per person. Tickets are availabe at the library.



Book discussion

Braswell Memorial Library Benefit Bank of North Carolina

The Benefit Bank is a web-based service that helps individuals & families apply for state and federal benefits. (Medicare, Medicaid, Voter Registration, Scholarships, etc.) Volunteers from S.W.I.. (Single Women in Mission) will be here to assist patrons with The Benefit Bank-NC every Monday and Wednesday in the computer lab from 6:30pm-7:30pm.

“The Prom Closet”

Organizers are asking for new and gently used dresses, tuxedos, tuxedo pants, tux shirts, tux ties,  studs, and cummerbunds, handbags, jewelry, hair accessories and anything else and young man or woman may need for the prom.
