Low-Income Engergy Assistance

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) gives families a one-time vendor payment to help pay their heating bills. Applications will be taken for disabled persons receiving a service through the Division of Aging and Adult Services or for households with a member age 60 and older. For application sites in

CPR Certification

The E.L. Roberson Center along with ECC will be offering a CPR class Jan. 15-16, from 1-5pm each day. Free for 65 and older, $65 for those under 65. For more information call 641-4263.

American Legion Post 316

Will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30pm at the Pinetops Lion’s Club Bldg.

Reading’s Alive!

Book Club will meet in the Pender Room at the Edgecombe County Memorial Library at 10:30am. The book “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch will be discussed.

Happy Senior Citizens Club

Will be sponsoring Gift Bingo on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 7-9pm at the E.L. Roberson Center.

Juvenile Crime Prevention

The Edgecombe and Nash County Councils meet at 9am at the East Carolina Ag & Education Center in Rocky Mt.  The public is invited to attend. For more information call 827-5058.

25th Annual Unity Breakfast

The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Dunn Center with Civil Rights Attorney and CNN Legal Analyst, Avery Friedman, as the guest speaker. The breakfast will begin at 7am and the program will start at 8am. For more information call 972-1181.

23rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative March at 10am, at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church to St. Luke Church of Christ in Princeville.

Edgecombe County Landfill

Will be closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday. All recycling centers will be open.

This is the last day to register for a 10 week  Information Session to learn more about being a leader in your community.  Sponsored through the Down East Partnership for children.
