35 Annual

School Reunion

Phillips/Bricks Alumni Association will hold its 35th annual school reunion. All graduates, attendees, former teachers and friends of Phillip High School and Bricks School are urged to attend. Ticket are $75 per person for all of the weekend activities, Friday-Sunday or $40 for just one event. Events include Friday night Meet and Greet Fellowship, Saturday night Scholarship Banquet, Saturday morning Business meeting/Breakfast and Sunday Church worship/Lunch. The Edgecombe County Landfill will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. All Recycling Centers will be open.

4-H Golf Club

Interest Meeting

Are your interested in playing golf? Join the 4-H Golf club for any youth between the ages of 10 through 18! Juneteenth Community Empowerment Harambee Festival

This FREE event will take place Friday and Saturday. On Fri., it’s the Thelonious Monk Jazz Festival featuring live jazz entertainment from 7pm-11pm in the Booker T. Theater. On Sat. the Junteenth Community Empowerment Celebration featuring artist Mel Waiters, from 12pm-7pm at the Douglas Block. There will also be kids activities, arts/crafts, food vendors, entertainment and more. Congressman G.K. Butterfield will serve as the guest speaker. For more info visit

Celebrity Chef Dana Hubert aka Sugar Daddy

The winner of Cake Boss “Next Great Baker” is coming to Rocky Mount on Tuesday, for a FREE Event. Hebert will hold two FREE cooking demonstrations, at 4:30pm and 6:30pm at the Imperial Centre. He will demonstrate how to make food flavorful and healthy. This event is open to the public.


DAR District VIII Annual Meeting

The Common

The North Carolina Smphony presents “Pops on the Common” concert at 7pm. Free Health Screenings by Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, and Free iced water from Thorne Drub Center. Bring a chair/blanket and picnic. Rain location will be Keihin Auditorium at ECC.

Day Trip to Beaufort

The E.L. Roberson Center is hosting a day trip to Beaufort. Leaving on a charter bus at 8AM (Friday). Will tour the NC Maritime Museum and elsewhere. At 12:30 we will board the Crystal Coast Lady for the Shackleford Wild Pony and Dolphin Tour, with lunch aboard the boat. Cost for the trip is $80.
