Edgecombe County Public Schools recognized students from across the county at the May Board of Education meeting. The Gold Key Awards, which are presented at the end of each semester, acknowledged the hard work and effort of students from each school in the district. In addition, several other individuals and groups who earned county, state and national honors were recognized. Gold Key Award recipients were recognized for not only maintaining strong academic performance, but also for serving as positive role models for other young people. Positive attitudes, improvement over the year and overall contribution to the classroom environment were all taken into account. Once a student receives the Gold Key Award, the honor is held throughout his or her tenure with ECPS.
