FOR THE DAILY SOUTHERNER
The South Edgecombe Middle School Beta Club performed a Halloween skit for preschool, first and second graders at G.W. Carver Elementary on Wednesday as part of their monthly community service project requirement.
The group chose “A Halloween Pep Rally” as the theme of their performance and enjoyed an interactive chant with the elementary students. Each time the chant was recited, there was a mysterious knock at the door and a Halloween monster would appear to greet the students. Several monsters visited the students a witch, skeleton, werewolf, ghost and a friendly Grim Reaper. There was a special appearance by the “scariest monster,” the dentist, as well.
The Beta Club students then treated each Carver student to a piece of Halloween candy.
The Club has 18 members. The next event will be a canned food drive from Nov. 5 to 9 followed by Club induction for new members on Nov. 20.
