Thief arrested for two downtown break-ins

TARBORO — Tarboro police made an arrest Wednesday that cleared up two break-ins in the downtown area.

Officers began investigating two break-ins that had occurred at Wayne's Dry Cleaner's and On the Square food stand.

Law enforcement went to Sims Recycling in Princeville to see if anyone had recently sold any metal that matched up to the break-in at the food stand on Main Street. An employee at Sims told officers that 51-year old James Edward Stroy had recently sold some metal. The employee showed officers his picture and they located Stroy to question him about the break-ins.

During the interview, Stroy admitted to officers that he had broken into the businesses and had sold the metal.

Stroy, of 701 Cedar Lane, Tarboro, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering and obtaining property by false pretense.
