Two charged in trailer, generator theft

TARBORO — Two Edgecombe County residents were charged with stealing a trailer and generator from an empty house on Roberson School Road.

The stolen items reportedly belonged one of the suspect's landlord, and the landlord was working on the house.

After receiving information about the stolen items, Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) investigators began to dig into the case.

They didn't have to dig deep, because they got help from a citizen who was aware of the theft.

The citizen was riding down Brown Farm Road and noticed a trailer with a generator – similar to the ones reported stolen – sitting in a yard.

According to reports, the resident on Brown Farm Road told law enforcement that 28-year-old Brandon David Fountain and 21-year-old Steven Wayne Webb sold him the two items.

Law enforcement obtained warrants for the duo.
