FOR THE DAILY SOUTHERNER
While preparing for a scheduled week-long shutdown at Keihin Carolina System Technology, associates came up with a community service idea of offering a car wash. On Thursday, June 28, Keihin associates were armed with hoses, sponges and towels to offer a car wash to the public. At only $5 per wash, and some roadside advertising, Keihin associates were given time off the production line to wash 100 cars on Keihin property, raising $500 for the Tarboro Communty Outreach, which serves needy families and individuals in Edgecombe County.
Community service is a big part of Keihin's desire to be involved in our local community. Last year, Keihin associates logged more than 1,600 hours of community service supporting Relay for Life, Alzheimer's Walk, Walk for Hope, Salvation Army, Christmas Needy family events, Boy Scouts, engineering camps, and school programs, to name a few.
