George Dickens and The Gospel Disciples Sunday at Keihin Auditorium

TARBORO — True Ideas presents the 20th anniversary and CD release of George Dickens and The Gospel Disciples, with special guests Pastor Shawn Jones and The Believers, of Rockford, Ala.

The show is set for 4:45 p.m. Sunday in the Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Doors open at 4 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door, $20 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 10.

George Dickens and The Gospel Disciples, originally from Oak City, will be celebrating 20 years of singing ministry and releasing its new CD “We Will Survive.” Sunday’s show will also feature Roy and Revelation of Hopkins, S.C., 13-year-old Michael Boone of Kinston, New Creation of Hillsborough, Wanda Barnes of Rocky Mount, and gospel comedian David “Bubbah” Dickens.

George Dickens and The Gospel Disciples started with the father and his sons. The group has traveled across the states and is releasing its album on newly independent label True IDeas Music Label owned by son George Jr. Appearing on this album on a track written by Bruce “Baby Boy” Dickens is Grammy nominated and gospel icon Luther Barnes. The group’s self-described album is “soulful and uplifting.”
