Golden LivingCenter-Tarboro receives five-star rating

TARBORO — Golden LivingCenter – Tarboro has earned five-stars in its overall rating for April from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the outstanding overall care it provides to patients and residents. The LivingCenter is one of a select group of skilled nursing facilities in North Carolina to receive the coveted five-star overall rating, which is the highest designation possible under the CMS five-star quality rating system.

Golden Living – Tarboro was also identified as one of the best nursing homes in the United States by U.S. News & World Report in its 2013 ranking of the nation’s nursing homes.

To receive the five-star designation, nursing homes are rated on their health inspections, quality measures and staffing, with only the top 10 percent of nursing homes being eligible for the rating.

“Our LivingCenter is honored to receive the five-star overall rating because it validates the quality care and outstanding service we strive to provide to our patients,” said Effie Webb, Executive Director of Golden LivingCenter – Tarboro. “It’s the result of a lot of hard work and dedication on the part of our employees, who are committed to working every day to continuously improve our quality of care and patient experience.”

The CMS five-star quality rating system is part of Nursing Home Compare, an online tool that CMS offers to help consumers more easily compare nursing homes in their area. Under the system, five-star equals “much above average,” four-star equals “above average,” three-star equals “average,” two-star equals “below average” and one-star equals “much below average.”

Another purpose of the program is to provide nursing homes with the data they need to help with their quality improvement efforts. With data in Nursing Home Compare being

updated monthly, nursing homes have the ability to move up or down in the ratings based on how their care evolves over time.

Golden LivingCenter - Tarboro has been a part of the Tarboro community since 1976. For more information 823-0401 or visit
