Hobgood Jr. Betas win state poster competition

ROCKY MOUNT — HOBGOOD — Hobgood Academy's Junior Beta Club won first place out of more than 50 banners entered at the 75th Annual North Carolina Beta Club Convention in Greensboro Feb. 4-5.

The banner theme was "The Heart of Beta" and Macey Crawford, Carson Josey and Tiffany Geesey were the students who entered the banner project. These students may enter their banner in the national competition this summer in Mobile, Ala.

Twelve of Hobgood Academy’s 18 eighth and ninth grade members of the Junior Beta Club attended, along with club sponsor Mrs. Amanda Elkins and the parent chaperones.

A total of 98 public and private schools and more than 3,800 students were represented at the convention.

In addition to the banner competition, students entered the poster, quiz bowl, math, language arts and social studies competitions.
