D.R.E.A.M. Social and Civic Club “Day of Pampering”

TARBORO — The ladies of DREAM Social and Civic Club conducted their very first service project on June 22. One of the objectives of DREAM is to not only mentor young girls but also empower, motivate and inspire women. The sisters of DREAM sponsored a “Day of Pampering” for the residents of the women’s shelter in Tarboro, the “Blessing Place.”  Rick Williams Auto Mart, donated the use of a limousine to transport the women in luxury to their destination. Ms. Lucinda Plasencio of Lisa’s Bodyworks & Massage donated her time to provide massages for the “Day of Pampering.” A special thanks to Rev. Walter Cherry and the Mildred Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Family for the use of their fellowship hall.  Each lady left with several gifts donated by DREAM.  A week after the event, the ladies from the shelter sent the club a heartfelt handwritten card expressing testimonials of hope, inspiration, and gratitude for their “Day of Pampering." This is just one of many service projects that will take place by the Sisters of DREAM Social and Civic Club. The club’s signature mentoring program “DREAM Gurlz” will start on Oct. 12. The DREAM Gurlz program will be accepting applications next month for young girls (6th through 12th) who reside in Tarboro.
