Breast cancer survivors have an opportunity to attend an upcoming workshop at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital aimed at improving their quality of life.
The hospital is hosting a “Get REAL & HEEL” Wellness Workshop at 11 a.m. March 7 in the hospital classroom. The workshop is free, thanks to grant funding. Get REAL and HEEL is funded in part by Susan G. Komen for a Cure.
“We want to start the year off with a renewed focus on wellness and healthy living for our breast cancer survivors and the entire community. The Get REAL & HEEL Workshop is one of several events we have planned for 2014,” said Scott Phillips, patient navigator at Vidant Oncology in Tarboro. “Breast cancer survivors, current patients and their caregivers are invited to attend.”
Advance registration for the workshop is required. To register, call 252-641-8313.
Get REAL & HEEL is an after care breast cancer program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Program representatives travel around North Carolina bringing the workshop to breast cancer survivors. Phillips commented regarding bringing the workshop to Tarboro:
“It’s part of the overall community outreach and support that Vidant Edgecombe Hospital does annually.”
