TARBORO — Dean Roundtree of the American Red Cross preps Max Gardner for his blood donation Tuesday afternoon at Eagles Baptist Church in Macclesfield. Gardner, who said he lived “down the road” from the church, said he had given blood, “Since I was 18 years old … about 93 or 94 times.” Red Cross statistics indicate each unit given helps save three lives — which means Gardner’s immediate impact has been on the lives of 279 persons. Another blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Friday at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital.
