Two blood drives remain in October

TARBORO — Edgecombe County residents will have two remaining opportunities to donate blood through the American Red Cross this month.

On Wednesday, members of the public may join employees at Superior Essex, located at 2801 Anaconda Road, for the sixth of seven public blood drives this month.

Then, on Halloween Day, Edgecombe Community College will hold the final drive of the month between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The ECC drive will be held in Building C — the nursing.

Ellen West, the senior account manager for Mid-Atlantic Region Blood Services based in Greenville cautioned that despite the fact the emergency appeal has been lifted, the holiday season is approaching and there is generally an increased need for donors during that time of the year.

Previously this month, blood drives have been held at North Edgecombe High School, the Braswell Center, Sunset Church of God, ABB, Inc. in Pinetops and Tarboro High School.
