A new group, Storytellers of Edgecombe County, is meeting beginning nexct month.

“We’re collecting history for a new book,” said Faye Hays, who is organizing the group along with her sister, Jo Webb.

The first meeting will be Aug. 13. The meetings are planned for 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the Pinetops branch of Edgecombe County Memorial Library.

“Much of the history of Edgecombe County is not in the history books,” Hays said. “We want folks to come and share their memories with us.

“Let us record those memories so they will not be forever lost.”
